Choosing the right aluminum alloy series is the basis to ensure architectural performance, aesthetics and economy. The main aluminum series for building include series 1, series 3, series 5 and series 6, among which series 6 (Al-Mg-Si) is the most widely used building alloy.

Series 1 (1060, 1100)

The purity is over 99%, the corrosion resistance, electrical and thermal conductivity are excellent, and the strength is low. Suitable for non-load-bearing, non-structural decoration and functional parts, mainly used in lighting lamps, decorative foils, gaskets and other occasions with low strength requirements.

Series 3 (3003, 3004, 3005)

Mn is the main alloying element, which has good corrosion resistance, better strength than Series 1 and good formability. It is suitable for non-structural parts that need good formability and certain weather resistance, and can be used in ceiling, rolling doors, awnings, air conditioning blades, aluminum-plastic board core materials, etc.

Series 5 (5005, 5052, 5083)

Magnesium is the main alloying element, which has excellent seawater corrosion resistance, high strength and good weldability. It is suitable for building exterior decoration and structural parts with high humidity, coastal areas or special corrosion resistance requirements, and is often used for building panels and pressure vessels (not mainstream buildings) in maritime buildings, ships and chemical environments.

Series 6 (6061, 6063, 6082)

The main alloy for building. With magnesium and silicon as the main elements, it has excellent comprehensive performance, medium strength, good corrosion resistance, excellent extrudability and strong surface treatment ability. This series of alloys can be used for doors and windows, curtain wall profiles, photovoltaic supports, roofs, fences and structural frames. 6061 has higher strength and is used for structures with higher requirements; 6063 has better extrudability and is used for profiles with complex sections. 6063 or 6061 can be selected according to the section complexity, strength requirements and surface treatment methods (such as anodizing or spraying).
